Workforce Mobility & the “Metaklisis” Model
Metaklisi (bringing talent from outside Europe) is not an option, but an essential and perhaps the only available solution.
Organized by the Embassy of India in Greece, with H. E. Rudrendra Tandon as the opening speaker, this annual Summit brings together government representatives, legal experts, HR leaders, and Greek businesses to share knowledge, experiences, and practical guidance on building resilient international workforces.
Greece’s labor shortages represent one of the most significant constraints on its economic growth. The absence of manual and blue-collar workers in construction, manufacturing, shipping, hospitality, and agriculture — sectors that account for approximately 35% of GDP — continues to suppress output and limit expansion.
Across the economy, Greece is estimated to be short 200,000 to 300,000 workers, with a disproportionate share concentrated in these five sectors. A critical limitation of Greece’s growth model is not unemployment per se, but the absence of available and willing manual and technical workers in key productive industries.
